If you’re into fitness trackers, you’re probably familiar with the concept of the “first-generation model,” which is generally less refined than the next-gen model, and often less expensive, too. That’s the case with the first-generation Garmin Quest, which we generally liked and which we think is still worth a look, especially if you’re on a budget.

Our Methodology for Testing
We looked for accessories that enhanced the overall Quest experience. We chose all of our test accessories from our lab and from online retailers, and we also asked several VR headset accessory makers what they thought was best for the Quest.
We noted how easy each accessory was to install, how intuitive it was to use (or not), and if there were any compatibility issues.
For example, we installed a bunch of different anti-slip pads on the top headstrap of the Quest (the section that rests against your forehead) so that you could see which ones gave you a firm enough grip without being too abrasive or uncomfortable.
We also tested several different types of nose pads, including one set with a suction cup attachment, as well as pairs of polarized lenses meant to reduce blue light.
SARLAR Hard Carrying Case Compatible with Oculus Quest 2
The SARLAR Hard Carrying Case is the best travel case we’ve tested because it’s compact and can accommodate the Quest 2 and a few accessories. The hard shell keeps everything from getting smashed, and the elastic straps will help you keep everything organized.
It’s also made of high-quality materials, and the design is stylish and sturdy. The SARLAR case is the most expensive we tested, but it’s designed similarly to the official Oculus Quest 2 carrying case, which is pricey as well.
The SARLAR case doesn’t include a touch controller holder, but it does ship with a pair of grip stickers and a lens-protective cover.
Elite Strap for Oculus 2 Accessories
The Elite Strap for Oculus 2 Accessories is the most comfortable head strap we tested. It’s designed to distribute weight evenly across the front of the face, eliminating pressure on the nose and cheeks.
The head strap is also ergonomically designed to make it easier for your eyes to align with the screen in the headset for better clarity. But the best part about it is how easy it is to install, as it attaches to the arms of the headset and fits securely, so you don’t have to worry about it slipping out of place during play.
The Elite Strap is sleek and stylish, too, and can be adjusted to fit adults and children of different head sizes. It’s also very easy to install and remove, and the sturdy materials should last you a long time without fraying or breaking.
If you have any issues with your product, our team is available to help, and they respond quickly.
KIWI Design Face Cushion Pad
The KIWI design Face Cushion Pad is the best replacement face pad we’ve tested. It has a unique L-shaped ventilation system, which is fully surrounded by the foam and covers the upper part of the nose as well.
The L-shaped vent design is renowned for being the best at keeping the face from getting too hot. The pads are also thinner than most other pads, which makes them more comfortable.
The KIWI design pad is also made with a soft, premium-quality PU leather and an elastic sponge, so it is soft and sweatproof. The sponge is even replaceable. The leather is held in place with a special magic paste, so it doesn’t slide around, and the foam is securely fastened inside the leather.
Our only small concern is that this pad is tall enough to block a substantial amount of the screen when someone wearing glasses puts the Quest 2 on. We feel that the improved breathability of the KIWI design pad is worth the tradeoff, however.
BOBOVR M2 Pro Battery Pack Head Strap
The BoboVR M2 Pro headset offers plenty of great features, including a battery pack that’s easy to remove and replace, and an adjustable head strap with five different nodes that can be freely adjusted to the most comfortable position.
Based on our rounds of testing, the M2 Pro is the most comfortable headset we’ve tried, and it’s also among the least likely to cause discomfort related to pressure, heat, or tightness.
The M2 Pro’s 5200-mAh battery offers more than twice the capacity of the Quest 2’s battery, which should provide more than enough power to get you through a day of VR. We also like that this headset has a USB-C port for charging other accessories.
Other headsets we tested have a slimmer profile at the back of the head, but the M2 Pro’s head strap has a larger contact area and is more comfortable to wear over longer periods.
Lens Cleaning Pen Compatible with Meta/Oculus Quest 2 Pro Quest HTC Vive Pro Cosmos Elite Valve Index
If you own multiple VR headsets and other optical lenses, we recommend the Wrizzly Lens Cleaning Pen. Its brush tip can clean the lenses of multiple devices, and it’s the most affordable option in our roundup. Its brush tip can clean lenses of multiple devices, and it’s the most affordable option we tested.
We haven’t tested other pens that use similar brushes, but we’ve heard from readers that those pens are ineffective. The Wrizzly pen also supports a wide variety of devices via its double-ended design, but it doesn’t have a built-in cleaner like some of the other pens.
However, its brush tip is sturdy enough that you can use it to scrub out stubborn dust and debris without worrying about damaging the lens. The Wrizzly pen’s suede carbon powder is made of activated carbon powder without dispersing or drying, effectively eliminates fingerprints, oil and dirt on the lens and screen.
Moreover, its ultra-slim and lightweight design is excellent, and this pen is very portable and convenient to use. This pen is so small, you can put it in your pocket and you can hardly feel its existence. When you put it in your pocket, you can hardly feel its existence.
The Wrizzly pen is also equipped with a brush tip to remove the coarse dirt and dust particles away; after that, you can use the carbon side to stand vertically on the lens and gently wipe around the lens from the center in the clockwise/anti-clockwise direction.
Considerations Before Making a Purchase
We considered the following features when selecting accessories for our quest to find a backpack, luggage, and travel bag that would last years of world-hopping:
Luggage With Multiple Tabs And Pockets
As we’ve learned from our luggage guide, having multiple compartments is critical for keeping your stuff organized and accessible. We looked for bags with several external pockets, including at least two on the outside of each handle.
We also sought bags with an internal organizer panel and a top-loading main compartment, which are easier to pack than front-loading bags and more versatile than suitcase-style bags.
Lightweight And Durable Materials
We preferred luggage made of nylon because it’s light and very durable; you can often get several years (or even decades) out of a good nylon suitcase or backpack. Some companies make their backpacks out of ripstop nylon—a superstrong but still lightweight type of nylon—or ballistic nylon, which is even stronger.
